The Reception Rooms Kungarummet was the first room we tested, four months before Gondolen opened. The decor chiefly comprised an array of wheelbarrows, cement mixers and other construction equipment. The company was made up of yours truly and a gang of gourmets with a shared passion for oysters. We rigged up a few planks for a table, on top of which we put a white tablecloth and a candelabra we borrowed from Eriks in Gamla Stan. On the menu were oysters, dark bread, porter and champagne. A few well-chosen words were spoken and the company marvelled at the amazing views of Stockholm. |

The construction equipment is now long gone. But the memories of that February evening in 1994 will live forever. Today the room has 30 covers. Redarsalen, the largest reception room, has 90.

The views still meet with universal acclaim.
